Welcome to Memorama

It was in 1951 that Aberaeron last had a drama group. They called themselves the Amateur Dramatic and Play Reading Club and on March 17th 1951, their final performance consisted of two short plays -  “The Monkey’s Paw”, a thriller by W W Jacobs and “The Folly of Seithenyn”, based on the legend of Cantre’r Gwaelod by Ken Etheridge.

Therefore, after more than fifty years, the Memorial Hall, Aberaeron is to have an Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Group. The group is called “Memorama” and consists of local artistes from the Aberaeron area. Their first production, was a modern comedy by H Connolly called “Twelfth Man”. The action of the play is set in a small cricket pavilion in Tetford, West Yorkshire.  The Christmas production 2004 was Kenneth Grahame's "The Wind in the Willows" adapted for stage by Alan Bennett. Music by Jeremy Sams. In the spring of 2005 the group embarked on the Agatha Christie Murder Mystery "A Murder is Announced", followed by four nights of John Mortimer's adaptation of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"  in December 2005. The Company ventured into the world of farcical comedy in June 2006 with Ray Cooney's "It Runs in the Family" followed by the heartwarming story of little Susan and Kris Kringle in "Miracle on 34th Street" Christmas 2006.

The Bicentenary Year of Aberaeron in 2007 saw four productions - Stage School performing Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas, another comedy Ten Times Table by Alan Ayckbourn, and a unique perfomance of the dramatisation of the late Gareth Owen's lecture on the genesis of Aberaeron - My Dear Reverend Cousin - this was an open air performance at Monachty Mansion during the Bicentenary Festival Week. The Christmas production was another Dylan Thomas classic - A child's Christmas in Wales.

In 2008 our Christmas production was 'Pinnochio' the magical story by John Morley.

The Summer 2009 production will be 'Over My Dead Body' by Derek Benfield

The Winter Production in 2010 was 'Robin Hood the truth behind the Green Tights'
